Hi,

I never see the Hang in a Bigband before. He plays with feeling a jazz solo.

Here we go - same old discussion again?
I really like his technical skills - and that´s important for jazz music...
But for me it doesn´t work with the hang, ´cause he uses it like a drum.
The sound is to shrill and the hang loses energy if it´s played too loud.
... but he´s still an excellent drummer ...

I'll throw in the dissenting opinion.

I think it's a wonderful exploration of some of the possibilities of the Hang. I've been looking to create that kind of subtle 'introduction to the Hang' and I think he does a wonderful job of slowly revealing the Hang to the listener. I love how he started with the least expressive areas and worked towards the more expressive.

It's true that he doesn't have sensitive interaction with the Hang, he is using very percussive technique, but what a wonderful musical expression he has.
